Simon Weston and Johnny Johnson, on 15th March 2018, at RAF Hendon, London. HIgh-RES Picture by Richard Baker 0044 7836 287080 richardbakerpictures@gmail.com bakerpictures.com

George ‘Johnny’ Johnson MBE is Britain’s last surviving Dambuster. Here in conversation at the RAF Museum with another war veteran, Simon Weston CBE, he relates his experience of a daring night-time mission flown 75 years ago on 16th -17th of May 1943. Codenamed ‘Operation Chastise‘, with the objective of strategically attacking a selection of dams in the heart of Nazi Germany with a new type of bomb known as the ‘bouncing’ bomb. The result caused catastrophic flooding which destroyed power stations, factories and mines forcing Germany to divert personnel and resources from the front line to repair the damage.
